The extra-liturgical vestments of the clergy are the clothes that distinguish the clergy from the laity. Monastic vestments are clothes that symbolically depict the properties that are obligatory for a monk (the vestments of a cassock monk as a preparatory degree of monasticism have no such meaning). The vestments of a cassock monk are a cassock and a kamilavka; a monk of the minor schema is a chiton, a paraman, a cassock, a mantle, a hood; a monk of the great schema is a chiton, an analav, a cassock, a mantle, a doll.
