Vestments are the robes of the clergy and monasticism. According to its purpose, the vestments are divided into: extra

    -liturgical vestments of the clergy,

    liturgical vestments of the clergy,

    monastic vestments.

The extra-liturgical vestments of the clergy are the clothes that distinguish the clergy from the laity. The extra-liturgical vestments of the deacon are the cassock and cassock, the priest is the cassock and cassock (a distinctive feature is the pectoral cross); the bishop is the cassock, cassock, mantle, hood, pectoral cross and panagia.

The liturgical vestments of the clergy are the clothes in which church and clergy perform divine services. Some of these garments are symbols of grace-giving gifts, and without them a clergyman cannot perform divine service. The liturgical vestments are: a clergyman - a surplice; a deacon - a cassock, a charge, a surplice, an orar; a priest - a cassock, a cassock (during the liturgy, a cassock is worn instead of a cassock), a charge, a stole, a belt, a felon, a pectoral cross; the bishop is a cassock, a cassock (at the liturgy, instead of a cassock, a cassock), a charge, a stole, a belt, a mace, a saccos (instead of a saccos, there may be a felon), an omophorion, a panagia, a cross, a mitre. A priest (and a bishop) can perform some divine services without a felony (saccos). As a reward, priests are given the right to wear a scufia, a loincloth, a camilavka, a cross with ornaments, a club and a mitre. Liturgical vestments come in different colors depending on the celebration of a given day (see the color of the vestments).

Monastic vestments are clothes that symbolically depict the properties that are obligatory for a monk (the vestments of a cassock monk as a preparatory degree of monasticism have no such meaning). The vestments of a cassock monk are a cassock and a kamilavka; a monk of the minor schema is a chiton, a paraman, a cassock, a mantle, a hood; a monk of the great schema is a chiton, an analav, a cassock, a mantle, a doll.
